Contributor Kimberly Torres captures proposals on film. It’s a special moment that’s based on tradition more than anything else. But in an era where women live with boyfriends for months, sometimes years before marriage, where men serve as nannies and stay-at-home husbands, why do we demand the traditional gesture  when we’re hardly living the traditional husband/wife lifestyle? But should some gestures of tradition be kept alive? Are you “stealing his thunder” if you propose? Or just taking control of your life and not letting him lead you on by becoming his permanent girlfriend, his live in almost wife, or housemaid? Hmmm… food for thought.
