Iraq war vet Ty Reed, an Army major stationed in Baghdad in 2008, and her sister, Teresa Nguyen, know what it means to be displaced. The daughters of Vietnamese refugees say what Iraqi women are experiencing around the world is a shared experience,”What they’ve seen and what they’ve experienced is basically what every refugee has experienced,” Nguyen said in an interview with The Dallas Morning News. “It doesn’t matter when you come over.”   This Saturday, they’ll be hosting a news conference and discussion on the plight and struggles of Iraqi women globally and locally, including hundreds who are homeless.  Join us this Saturday afternoon from 1 to 3 p.m. at Life in Deep Ellum.  Click on banner ads for more details!!
