We knew it had to come but now it’s official. The Oprah show is coming to a close on Sept. 9, 2011. After 25 years on the air, and most of my life, the queen of day time television is calling it quits choosing instead to focus on her new cable channel OWN–the Oprah Winfrey Network. (Can she be more narcissistic? Oprah show, O magazine, Harpo productions, not she OWN’s cable?) Who’ll replace her? Who’ll tell us what to read, show us their favorite things, introduce us to doctors? And the bigger question is who’ll replace her. I think itmight be Ellen. She’s on this month’s O cover and she and Oprah are becoming BFFs (look out Gayle). What will I do at 4 p.m. in the afternoon now? Who’ll interview a sober and Bobby Brown free Whitney Houston? Before she takes off, I’d like to get tickets to her show. I think it’d be fun just to see her once live. I’m sure she’ll make another bizillion on the cable channel. I get irritated by her but I admire her at the same time. Go Oprah!
