Update: Teresa Gubbins at Pegasus News says the Avanti Addison location was not connected with the two other locations. Still trying to clear that up as the Avanti founder’s memorial was held their last year and his wife managed the property until it closed the retail management office reports.
I thought the restaurant looked quiet. And this afternoon I found out why. Turns out the Avanti Euro Bistro in Addison Circle is no more. According to the letter posted on the front door, the restaurant has been repossessed and the locks have been changed on the door by the landlord. Inside, peppermints still fill a dish by the door, orange napkins and place settings wait for customers that won’t be coming. Both the Avanti restaurants at Fountain Place and Avanti Ristorante are open still. At least people were there this afternoon answering phones and taking reservations. It’s sad news for a restaurant chain that only last year lost its founder Jack Ekhtiar who committed suicide in The Colony. His memorial was held at the Addison restaurant.
